I write drama, poetry, short stories and a daily journal.

Text often forms part of my visual art and theatre/movement practice.

My first play, ‘The Wedge’, premiered in 2012 at The Shop Front Theatre in Coventry in a co-production with Theatre Absolute, supported by Arts Council England.

A Lockdown Poem

Morning glow

High window

Shepherd’s warning

Day’s calling

Roll out a mat

First salutation

Gather the breath

Draw in jubilation

Guide attention

Without and within

Balancing act

New day to begin

Search out structure

Lean into routine

Count every blessing

Delight in a scene

Glance into the future

Seek out flecks of light

Find moments of pleasure

To reflect on tonight

Sun’s sure to be setting

Come back here again

Bear witness to beauty

Then nest in your den

A hope for all people

Of easier times

Of better conclusions

And many more rhymes

Ode to a Wreath

Made a wreath;

It was meant for the door,

Filled with things foraged

And trinkets galore.

Took me rather by surprise,

It ending up so supersized.

Abundant, untameable,

Scale out of hand;

Gargantuan orb, borne of the land,

Thou overblown wassail of wire-held wishes.

We hung it outside;

It welcomes the season.

The holly and ivy are famed for good reason.

And of all the wreaths that are in our hood,

I’m proud to contribute this crownful of splendour,

Now brightening up our grotty old render.

Once in rural Rodborough parish

Stood a tiny cottage there,

With a wreath too big to be contained,

Just like my morning mop of hair.

So! Good King Wreath n’ lass be merry

As you pose for pics together;

Sing it loud just like A(wreath)a

Merry Christmases forever!
