Over the years, various friends have asked me to help them prepare their first dance. There’s been many different musical styles, unique to each couple, from Irish reels to electropop to mgm-style romance. It’s always been a joy and an honour to get to be involved, helping create an extra special moment in these expressions and celebrations of love. It’s also become a connecting process for the soon-to-be-weds during the often hectic months of wedding prep. Delivering bespoke dance workshops at hen dos has been lots of fun along the way too. In 2025 I took the plunge and launched a new venture to offer these things up to a wider audience!

@ourlightfantastic is all about getting together for some relaxed, connecting dance coaching ahead of your wedding day.

To get together, unwind, have a laugh and move together in a way that feels comfortable, fun and fabulous.

The format is we get together for a drink and a chat in a nice cafe/bar then dance together in a nearby beautiful studio for a couple of hours. Couples go home feeling energised and excited about cutting a rug together on their big day. I can also provide extra practice sessions in the lead up, and movement services for any other elements of the day, eg. flash mobs prepared at hen dos ready for the dancefloor. I’d love to hear your ideas!

If you’re planning a wedding and would like a West End movement director to help make your first dance preparation easygoing and fun, I’d love to hear from you! I’m based in Stroud which can make a lovely trip out for couples from Bristol, London or across the Cotswolds. I can also recommend restaurants, hotels and lovely local places to visit if you’d like to make a weekend away of it. Travelling to you (or your event) is also sometimes an option.
